As I look at my radiant green flag swaying from side to side.

I read those strong, powerful words, and this poem just popped into mind.

What can I say about my country? My hometown?

I’m from it, always smiling, never put up with a frown.

I grew up here, loving every moment of it.

Never wanted to abandon it, not one bit.

I’m proud of my country, and everything it provides for me.

Being here makes me feel happy, makes me feel free.

I love how women here are considered as precious as jewels.

I never felt we were subordinate to men, treated as fools.

Our traditions are amazing... Irreplaceable.

They won’t be left behind, as they are simply incredible.

Being here makes me feel safe, makes me feel secure.

As though any troubles I face seem to have a cure.

Here, I’ve lived my childhood.

I grew up here, doing things I never thought I could.

We’ve watched our country transform from a desert, to what it is now.

We went from riding camels, to owning huge houses, do you see how??

I guess it’s easy to see... how much we changed over the years.

Our appearance, lifestyle, and careers.

Don’t you just admire our country’s history??

Our past kings are unforgettable, always remaining in our memory.

They’ve done so much, accomplished many achievements.

Although they’re gone now, their blessings are permanent.

Being a part of my society, I feel like I carry a responsibility.

To do everything I can do for my country, and strive to improve my city.

I’ll try my best.. Offer all that I have.

I’ll give.. and I’ll give.. Do what I can on my behalf.

I hope someday I can be one of the great ones.

And contribute to the country I love, the country I came from.

As Muslims, we’re very fortunate to have God’s holy places near us.

Toward God we have to show gratitude, being thankful is a must.

No matter how much I try, words can’t express everything I want to say.

My admiration, and love for my national day.
