MANAMA, 27 September 2007 — Bahrain’s Oil and Gas Minister and Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority Dr. Abdul Hussein Mirza yesterday said that Qatar and Bahrain would continue to explore possibilities of joint ventures in oil and gas sectors as part of joint initiative to tap the huge opportunities in these vital areas.
Mirza, who chaired the two countries’ joint meeting, said that he was very much impressed with the deliberations of Qatar International Petroleum on how to work together in oil and gas fields.
Nasser Al-Jeedah, CEO of Qatar International Petroleum, led the three-member Qatari delegation.
“The meeting in Bahrain today is a reflective of the commitment of both sides to work closely on areas of common interest. This also shows that both brotherly countries have a keen interest in enhancing the ties by entering into joint ventures in oil and gas sectors,” Mirza said.
“We want to see some major projects in the near future in both oil and gas sectors as the areas identified by both sides in the meeting have a huge growth potential,” he added.
Al-Jeedah underlined the importance of mega projects in oil and gas sectors and said “we will continue to work together to explore further opportunities.”
