JEDDAH, 30 September 2007 — Interior Minister Prince Naif has ordered the distribution of SR20,000 each to 474 members of the families of 76 security officers who were martyred while confronting terrorists in the past years.
The amount has been sent to the bereaved families including fathers, mothers, wives and children of the martyrs, along with an Eid Al-Fitr greeting card from Prince Muhammad ibn Naif, assistant interior minister for security affairs.
Prince Naif has allocated SR9.48 million for the Eid gift in order to help the martyrs’ families celebrate Eid. The money was distributed to families in nine regions, according to Maj. Gen. Sultan Al-Mohaisen, director of military affairs at the Interior Ministry.
Families of six dead officers from the National Guard and Defense Ministry also benefited from Prince Naif’s Eid gift. The families of the martyrs thanked Prince Naif for his humanitarian gesture.
Senior security officers in the Kingdom commended the Saudi leadership for remembering their martyrs at times of happy occasions and providing all help and care to their bereaved families.
“Embracing martyrdom in the service of the country is a great honor,” said Lt. Gen. Saeed Abdullah Al-Qahtani, director general of public security.
“At times of Eid celebrations, Saudi leaders and people remember their martyrs with pride,” said Lt. Gen. Saad Al-Tuwaijeri, director general of civil defense.
