MANAMA, 5 October 2007 — Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) is gearing up to participate in the upcoming multibillion US dollar Jewelry Arabia show in Bahrain. The pearl, gold and jewelry committee at the BCCI will meet tomorrow to discuss the preparations and preparedness of the Kingdom’s gold sector business for the upcoming Jewelry Arabia Exhibition 2007. The meeting will discuss the existing opportunities for the gold and jewelry sector and how BCCI should position itself in creating conducive climate to make Bahrain as a gold and jewelry center in the Middle East.
Capital Knowledge Relocates to BFHHC
MANAMA, 5 October 2007 — Bahrain Financial Harbor Holding Company (BFHHC) signed a tenancy agreement with Capital Knowledge, a leading Bahrain-based financial training solutions provider, in which the latter will occupy the entire floor in the West Tower of the “Financial Center.” Stephen Rothel, chief executive officer, BFHHC, said: “We are pleased that Capital Knowledge, a financial training solutions provider, has chosen BFH as the ideal destination to commence its operations. This move demonstrates that the BFH model not only offers space to financial service providers but also to organizations like Capital Knowledge.”
ALJ-CSP Finances Small Businesses
JEDDAH, 5 October 2007 — Abdul Latif Jameel Community Services Programs (ALJ-CSP) provided support to 811 small-scale projects in various regions in the Kingdom over the first three quarters of 2007, and targetted to support 1,200 projects before the end of this year. Last year, ALJ-CSP supported some 604 small shops and business projects including the sale of food products, perfume and clothing, accessories, sewing, etc. Saad Attiya Al-Ghamdi, vice president of ALJ-CSP, told Arab News that ALJ continuously sought to improve entrepreneurship and develop new mechanisms in this regard. ALJ-CSP launched recently Bab Rizq Job Creation Center that supports small- business owners.
