RIYADH, 8 October 2007 — The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Riyadh Chapter is holding a crash course for Filipino professionals and college graduates in the Kingdom who are interested in the intricacies of a Master in Business Administration or MBA program and enhancing their management and leadership skills.
The “MBA Crash Course” will be conducted for five consecutive Fridays starting Nov. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Siteen Palace Hotel (opposite Al-Othaim Supermarket) in Malaz district.
Elmer Gironella, chapter president, said the course “will introduce relevant skills and knowledge required to master management, provide short but intense introduction to relevant management theory and practice taught in MBA programs, and introduce learning approaches and techniques of MBA.”
“The crash course will also give participants a glimpse of intellectual challenge and pressures associated with MBA level work,” he added.
Gironella said the group has invited as resource speaker Ernesto Olita, an MBA graduate of Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom, and a senior management consultant with the Riyadh-based Souks Consulting Company.
“The ‘MBA Crash Course’ is all about creating value, both for you as an individual and for your organization,” said Luke Lacaden, the group’s vice president for continuing professional development.
The organizers said the participants in the crash course can expect to gain a clear understanding and overview of the essential elements of major MBA courses or programs in a significantly shorter time.
“The learning experience lays out a firm foundation of the essential elements of a major MBA course or program but without getting bogged down in unessential text book theory,” said Lacaden.
The seminar will tackle “Understanding and Managing Organizations” in module 1, “Human Capital Management” in module 2, “Enabling Technologies” in module 3, “Marketing Management” in module 4, and “Management Control and Decision Making” in 5th and last module.
