JEDDAH, 10 October 2007 — Al-Ahli club President Ahmed Al-Marzooqi told a press conference their new Brazilian footballer Antonio Kaio is finally arriving today to play for Ahli. In the same press conference Al-Marzooqi went back on what he announced the day before. He said Iraqi footballer Atram is not coming to Ahli from Al-Shabab club as earlier reported after they realized what Ahli need is a striker to partner with Malik Mouath and not a defender. Al-Marzooqi apologized for the false information.
Hawasawi Moves to Hilal
JEDDAH — Al-Wehda club dealt their standout defender Usamah Hawasawi to Al-Hilal club for a transfer fee of SR10 million. Wehda club President Jamal Tounsi said the money raised from the Hawasawi deal would be used to boost the club’s coffers. Meanwhile, Hilal are determined to terminate the contract of Brazilian international Bruno Agnello and replace him with another foreign striker.
Refs for GCC Tourney for Clubs Semifinals
JEDDAH — The Supreme Organizing Committee for the GCC Football Championship for clubs requested the Bahrain and Kuwait football federations to provide them with the recommended referees to work the semifinal matches between Al-Hilal and Al-Ittifaq clubs of Saudi Arabia and Al-Jazira of UAE and Al-Nasr of Oman on Oct. 23.
The first away games will be held at Prince Mohammed ibn Fahd Stadium in Dammam, while Abu Dhabi will host the second at the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium. The home games are set for Nov. 26 in Riyadh and Muscat.
