RIYADH, 15 October 2007 — Police arrested a 35-year-old Saudi man for raping a woman in her forties at a government hospital in Riyadh. The woman was staying with her inpatient son, according to a police source, which didn’t name the hospital.
The police started a hunt for the suspect following a complaint from the hospital. The woman told investigators that the man had lured her to an empty hall in the hospital away from the sight of the workers and patients.
The police arrested the suspect who was later identified by the rape victim. The man, a frequent visitor to the hospital, confessed to having sex with the woman but claimed that he had her consent.
