JEDDAH, 20 October 2007 — Jamal Mohiyuddin Alwaye, database administrator at the Ministry of Defense and Aviation, opened the Jeddah Computer Club at an IT seminar here early this week.
In his opening speech, Alwaye highlighted the importance of information technology in the modern world and urged people to master it.
Ceepee Koya, the club’s president, spoke about the mission of his organization.
“Our aim is basically to educate people and enhance public awareness about information technology,” he said.
V.K. Abdu, a computer expert and writer, spoke about the latest developments in the IT Industry. He spoke about data evolution, importance of knowing IT trends, nanotechnology, biotechnology and bioinformatics.
Dr. Shaukath of King Abdul Aziz University and Thailakandy Abdul Rasheed of Zahid Learning Center (ZLC) also addressed the seminar. Rasheed pledged ZLC’s full support to the computer club. ZLC had donated teaching aids to a similar club in Riyadh.
In his message to the IT seminar, Dr. Zoulfikar Raychouni, director of ZLC, stressed the need for more learning in order to get oneself prepared for meeting world challenges.
“We control our destiny with the knowledge we possess, thus our future career success depends on how much efforts we place on acquiring the required information to support that development,” he said.
