MUMBAI, 23 October 2007 — The short reprieve given by Supreme Court to Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt ended yesterday afternoon after he was given a 4,340-page judgment copy by Judge PD Kode of the Special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA) Court.
Immediately after being given the judgment copy for illegal possession of guns, which resolved a legal technicality, Dutt surrendered and was immediately taken into police custody.
He was whisked away to the high security Arthur Road Prison and was later shifted back to the high security Yerawada Central Prison in Pune late evening.
Dutt was on bail granted by the Supreme Court on technical grounds after being convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case under the Arms Act for illegally possessing an AK-56 rifle and intentionally destroying evidence.
