RIYADH, 23 October 2007 — In the first tournament back since the Ramadan break, Graham Walker, Pedy Lualhati and Mark Davis won the top prizes on Friday in the October Monthly Medal golf tournament at the Riyadh Golf Course here.
Walker, a manager at a telecoms company, clinched the Division A (handicap 0-12) on countback from Filipino Jun Saporsantos after both players returned 35 points in the Stableford format competition. Alex Arellano took third place on 34 points.
Lualhati, a 15-handicapper, was another winner via the countback in Division B (13-20). He tallied 41 points in a tie with Korean Kim Gi-dug who settled for the second position. In third place was Seng De Torres on 40 points.
One of the more active members at RGC and a Briton who works with the Faisalia Group, the 26-handicapper Davis shot a superb 45 points to win Division C (21-28). Dennis Catapang took second on 44 points with Abraham Zailon, from the Philippine Embassy, in third place on 43 points.
Theresa Walker was the Ladies Division champion with Louis Barker and Eileen Vincent first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. Steve Hart, of the Australian Embassy, claimed the award for longest drive and Amir Ishaq took home the accolade for nearest the pin.
A total of 60 players enjoyed a good day out on the course. The buffet lunch and awards ceremony followed the 18-hole tournament. Course owner Prince Faisal ibn Mohammed ibn Al-Saud attended the prize giving along with RGC Manager V.T.M. Rafi.
Meanwhile, Rafi said RGC members and guests would enjoy playing the full 18 holes when the club opens the back nine for play on Nov. 1. To book tee times Rafi said members may call at 224-1110.
