RIYADH, 25 October 2007 — Prizes totaling SR30,00 will be up for grabs in the SABB Golf Championship tomorrow at Dirab Golf Club here.

A record field of 120 golfers will tee it up shotgun-style at 8 a.m. in the 18-hole strokeplay competition. Giveaways of logoed golf balls, caps and T-shirts await each participant on top of the regular prizes for the winners.

The tournament is being held two weeks before the 28th Pan-Arab Championship, an individual and team competition featuring the cream of the crop of Arab golf, that is being hosted by the Kingdom for the first time.

The tournament is sponsored by SABB, one of the most reliable partners of Dirab in the promotion of golf in the Kingdom. This year’s event was made possible by the full support and generosity of SABB executives John Coverdell, managing director; Mansour Tirmzi, chief financial officer SABB; and Jehaan Ismail, CEO SABB Securities. Also at the helm of the tournament preparations were Amr Abdel Fattah Sayed, manager Internal Communication; and Rima Alfaour, marketing manager.

Dirab Golf Club manager Bouchaib El Jadiani said members of the regular Saudi national team and junior team are seeing action.

Meanwhile, the fourth spot on the Saudi team for the Pan-Arab event is being contested by three players namely Mohammed Alkhaldi, Mubarak Al-Ghamdi and Ali Al Sahli. Kingdom No. 1 Othman Almulla, team captain Ali Belhareth and Riyadh golf star Fahd Al-Mansour have earlier booked their places on the team.
