JEDDAH, 29 October 2007 — Dammam-based Al-Ittifaq received their second consecutive blow at home with their first goalless draw in the Saudi Football League season yesterday against Al-Shabab at Prince Mohammed ibn Fahd stadium.
After losing 1-0 to Ittihad that ended their four- game winning streak Ittifaq lost a further two points last night in front of their home crowd by drawing with Al-Shabab. In a boring match both teams failed to score a goal as they took turns missing the target throughout.
In the 59th minute Ittifaqi forward Saleh Basher passed the ball to unguarded Prince Tago who took too long to shoot before Al-Shababi defender Fasial Al-Ubali cleared his ball.
In the 75th minute Nasser Al-Shamrani’s brilliant pass found Hassan Muaz within a few feet from the home team’s goal but the Saudi Olympic team’s leftback fired the ball far off the target.
Al-Shabab moved up a notch to fifth in a tie with Al-Hilal of Riyadh, who managed to beat Al-Hazm 2-0 at home. Yasser Al-Qahtani and Mohammed Al-Anbar scored the goals for Hilal in the 32nd and 90th minutes dropping Hazam one spot down in the team standings.
Al-Wehda, at home to Al-Taie, won 1-0 on a single goal scored by Ahmad Al-Mousa.
