JEDDAH, 30 October 2007 — Jammu and Kashmir Committee (overseas) held a function here to mark ‘Black Day’. Kashmiris observe Black Day every year to commemorate the landing of Indian troops in Srinagar on Oct. 27, 1947. The function was presided over by Ghulam Nabi Butt, chairman of the organization. Butt said Indian forces had unleashed a reign of terror in Kashmir and more than 800,000 troops were present there. But, he said, Kashmiris will one day achieve their legitimate right to self-determination. Others who spoke included Ikram Abbasi, Sardar Mohammad Azad, Dr. Raja Asif and Sardar Mohammad Irshad. Sardar Iqbal Yusuf conducted the function.
