JEDDAH, 6 November 2007 — Prince Abdullah ibn Turki inaugurated a four-day long “Second Pakistani Specific Week Catalogue Show” on Saturday night at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI).
More than 12,000 catalogues were displayed at the show, which was represented by 250 companies.
JCCI Chairman Saleh Al-Turki and Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Shahid Karimullah attended the inauguration ceremony together with business delegations from Pakistan. Saudi and Pakistani businessmen also held a closed-door meeting on future investment opportunities in Pakistan.
In his welcome speech, Prince Turki highlighted the long historical relations between the two countries. The prince honored both Saudi businessmen, who invest in Pakistan, and Pakistani investors, who invest in the Kingdom.
JCCI Chariman Saleh Al-Turki said hosting the event complies with the JCCI’s obligation to strengthen relationships between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. He added that the aim of the show is to highlight the positive and strong points of the Pakistani business and investment sector, along with widening and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
“We live today in one global village where we are in need of stronger economic and business relations between Islamic countries. I see that this show is on that path in developing and strengthening those relations,” Karimullah said.
The first Pakistan catalogue show in the Kingdom was held in October 2005, with over 10,000 catalogues on display. “The show resulted in a number of joint projects,” Karimullah said, adding that Pakistani businesswomen are also going to hold similar talks with their Saudi counterparts.
The “Second Pakistani Specific Week Catalogue Show” is expected to attract businessmen from all over the country. A number of seminars on investment opportunities between the two countries are to be held as part of the four-day show.
