YANBU, 7 November 2007 — A Nepalese worker committed suicide because of spiraling debts estimated at SR60,000, including money for obtaining a job visa to come to the Kingdom. The worker strangled himself using a plastic rope in his apartment early this week.
The Nepalese national had earlier contacted his wife in Katmandu, and told her that his recruitment office was demanding SR6,000 for his visa. The man was also suffering from stress before leaving for the Kingdom.
Police in Yanbu, headed by Capt. Khaled Al-Anazi, are currently questioning the man’s co-workers.
