AHSA, 9 November 2007 — A 25-year-old Saudi man shot his 55-year-old neighbor because of a dispute over a parking spot, the daily Al-Yaum reported yesterday. Although the young man lived in a nearby apartment building, he would park his car in front of his neighbor’s house due to lack of available parking space at his apartment complex. The man had been given repeated warnings to not park there but ignored them all. Growing desperate, one day the elderly neighbor waited for the young man to arrive and stood in the parking spot. He refused to move and told him to go park somewhere else. This enraged the youth, who went back to his car, pulled out a pistol and shot the man in the leg. Police were called to the scene and arrested the young man for assault with a deadly weapon; he is currently in jail awaiting trial. His neighbor is in stable condition, recovering at a local hospital.
