DUBAI — Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal has been named as the recipient of first IIR Middle East Business Achievement Lifetime Award for Outstanding International Contribution by a Middle East Business Leader.
This prestigious award has been given in recognition of his contribution to making the world a better place by fostering better East/West relations, providing aid in times of crisis and alleviating poverty and other forms of suffering throughout the world.
“There can be no more worthy recipient for such an award,” said event director Alan Kelly. “Prince Alwaleed has a long and proud record in each of the areas covered by the award criteria. Here is a person who has continually used his business acumen and successes to directly help others,” Kelly said.
“For example, who could not forget that he was the single largest individual contributor to help out those affected by the Indian Ocean tsunami — giving more than some nations — and his ongoing support for disaster victims across Africa.”
To create better understanding between East and West, he has financed major Islamic studies in the US and one of his most recent projects has been his support for a new Islamic Arts wing at The Louvre in Paris.
Prince Khalid bin Alwaleed, son of Alwaleed, received the award on behalf of his father, at a gala dinner at The Monarch Dubai on Sunday night.
