YANBU, 22 November 2007 — Prince Saud ibn Thunayyan, chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, launched a program aimed at implementing the royal commission’s comprehensive strategic plans at a function in Riyadh on Monday.
“The program aims at achieving the futuristic vision of the commission by developing the petrochemical and energy industries over the next 20 years,” the prince said.
“The program to restructure the functioning style of the commission will undoubtedly raise its operational and production levels,” he added.
He also said that the program would be instrumental in consolidating the past and present achievements of the commission while it forges ahead on the road to greater achievements.
The commission would implement the concept of broader industrial integration to further encourage investments, the prince said. He stressed the importance of the transfer of expertise and training of all workers at the commission.
The commission signed last month four contracts worth SR18.45 million with Ernst & Young, one of the largest auditors and professional services firms in the world, to improve the commission’s competence.
The first contract is for preparing an ideal organizational structure, followed by another contract that would lay down the plans to update the operational skills and the performance management of the commission.
The third contract would undertake the overhaul of management, followed by upgrading the commission’s strategic plans in line with the international standards laid down by the International Institute for Project Management.
Several high officials of the public and private sectors participated in the function.
