DAMMAM, 6 December 2007 — Authorities in the Eastern Province have announced that DNA evidence has linked a man to a series of sex crimes in neighborhoods of Dammam over the past three years.
Police said witness testimony helped establish a pattern to the criminal’s activity: The perpetrator would break into homes by entering through the crawlspace used for air conditioners, rob the victims of valuables, bind them with wire and sexually assault them. In most cases police were able to obtain physical evidence, including DNA samples and fingerprints.
After scanning more than 1,000 suspects, police said they found a match with a man who was accused of raping a 40-year-old woman.
Police say the suspect’s fingerprints also match those found at some of the crime scenes. Little information has been released about the suspect’s identity except that he was known to wear a mask during his crimes.
