YANBU, 10 December 2007 — Police found the body of a 30-year-old man at the base of a mobile phone tower. A citizen reported to the police about the body. The police believe the man suffered from a psychological illness and committed suicide. The body was taken to Yanbu General Hospital and the police are still investigating the accident. A source at the hospital said: “We found bruises in the feet but we haven’t found any fractures. A coroner from Madinah will examine the body to determine the cause of death.” (Muhammad Al-Homaid)
Overstayers Arrested
MAKKAH, 10 December 2007 — Authorities in Makkah arrested 200 overstayers across the holy city. Seventy-five overstayers were arrested in the Al-Awali district, 50 in the central area and 75 at various checkpoints in and around the city. Gen. Mansour Al-Turki, Interior Ministry spokesman, said that the authorities are also going firm in clamping down on people entering Makkah illegally. “Arrests are being made on a daily basis. Makkah residents need to cooperate with the security forces and not house or harbor overstayers,” he said. (Ali Hawash)
