RIYADH, 20 January 2008 — Over 335 inventors, men and women alike, are set to showcase their brainpower at the Kingdom’s first national exhibition to highlight creativity, scheduled for March. The exhibition, organized by the King Abdul Aziz and His Companions Foundation for the Gifted (KAHCFG) and Saudi Aramco, is set to be the first of its kind in the country.
Dr. Khaled Al-Sabti, secretary-general of KAHCFG, announced in a press conference yesterday that the government body had signed three memorandums of understanding to further expand its partnership with other government agencies to nurture creativity in the Kingdom. Among the new partners are the Centennial Fund, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“This cooperation is to link the elements of creativity with the industries that knowledge is based on,” Al-Sabti said.
Hisham Tashkandi, general director of the Centennial Fund, said the agreement would pave way for the participation of many speakers including international experts.
“The exposition will also include workshops where all participants can register,” he said. “Recommendations will be sent to related authorities in Gulf countries.”
The Centennial Fund signed last year six cooperation agreements with local organizations to help Saudi youth find self-help projects throughout the Kingdom.
Inventors will have the opportunity to meet executives from global companies who seek to nurture their inventions.
