JEDDAH, 21 January 2008 — A dozen major international trade exhibitions will be held in Jeddah this year. They will all be staged at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s International Exhibition and Convention Center on Madinah Road, Zahoor Siddique, director at Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions, which is organizing the events, told the media yesterday.
The first to be held is the Middle East education and training exhibition and symposium (meetes) from March 10-13. This will be Saudi Arabia’s 13th edition for education, training, human resources, equipment, aids and services.
The fashion arabia will follow next from March 23-26, featuring clothing, textiles, leather goods and footwear, and incorporating Beauty Arabia - a showcase for cosmetics, hair and skin care, and perfumes. Aside from the Arab world, Turkey, Malaysia, China, Europe, Mexico, Egypt, India and Pakistan will be among the participants. Turkey’s solo exhibition MACHITECH (4th Turkish machinery and machine tools show) is scheduled from March 31-April 3.
The Saudi building and interiors exhibition (sbie), a comprehensive showcase for the industry, takes place from April 13-17. Running parallel to the exhibition will be a high profile symposium featuring expert speakers from the industry conducted by the Saudi Council of Engineers.
“A host of advisers and specialists will conduct technical demonstrations and provide free consultancy to prospective builders or property owners,” Siddique said.
Saudi Health Care and Saudi Hospital (SHASH) will be the next, from May 4-7. This is Saudi Arabia’s 15th international medical, insurance, dental, pharmaceutical, scientific equipment and labware exhibition and symposium. Saudi Hospital is the Kingdom’s 15th international event for non-medical hospital infrastructure, supplies and furnishings.
This will be followed by food/hotel/propac arabia (fhp arabia), the 13th international event for food, beverages and catering, hotel equipment supplies and services, from May 18-22. This show, to incorporate ‘Top Chef’ and “Art De Table,” will run in conjunction with propac arabia - the 13th international event for production and processing, printing and packaging, plastics and chemicals.
COMMTEL - the 23rd international event for computing, the Internet, office equipment and accessories, business communications and mobile phones - will follow from Oct. 27-31.
The schedule of exhibitions for the calendar year ends with Saudi International Motor Show (SIMS) from Nov. 9-14. “This show will mark the 30th anniversary of Saudi Arabia’s international event for motor vehicles, motorcycles, auto parts, accessories and garage equipment,” Siddique said. “In fact, the ACE began its operations with the Motor Show way back in 1978. This has become Saudi Arabia’s biggest and most important platform for all major brands to showcase their latest models and services.”
