JEDDAH, 28 January 2008 — Police recently arrested a Saudi man, who impersonated a municipal employee and fined a member of the public SR3,000 for violating building construction laws.
Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police, told Arab News that a 51-year-old unemployed man fraudulently cheated a man out of SR3,000. “The building owner told the inspector that he had already paid SR3,000 to another inspector who had come a few days before. The man, however, insisted that he was the only officer authorized to make spot checks on buildings and that he had not delegated anyone to do his job,” said Al-Juaid.
