JEDDAH, 29 January 2008 — A three-month long soccer tournament organized by Saudi Indian Football Forum (SIFF) in cooperation with Eastern Company will kick off at the Al-Rabea Stadium, near the Television Tower, Mina Street on Feb. 8.
Matches between 12 teams in two divisions will be played every Friday till the tournament’s final on May 9, SIFF President K.P. Abdul Salam told a press conference at the Impala restaurant on Sunday night.
Indian Consul General Dr. Ausaf Sayeed has been invited to open SIFF’s annual tournament on the opening day, which will also feature a march past and cultural program by school children, and the first ‘A’ division match between last year’s title holders Al Doraq and Friends Sports.
Thereafter, two matches in ‘A’ and ‘B’ divisions will be played every Friday, the first from 4 p.m. followed by the second one.
‘A’ division teams include Al Doraq, Friends Club, Asiatic Cultural Center (A), Blue Star (A) and Bharat Cultural Center. ‘B’ division includes ABC Kerala XI, International Indian School-Jeddah, Asiatic Cultural Center (B), Blue Star, Rainbow Sports Club, Al Huda Sports club and Real Kerala Football Club.
