The BMG Saudi Index continued to move ahead in its second trading day this week, advancing by 1.5 percent and closing at 517.1 points. The market turnover rose by 35.5 percent to SR4.5 billion ($1.2 billion), up from SR3.3 billion ($889 million) in Saturday’s session. Most of the BMG Saudi Index’s sectors were gainers, topped by the Banking sector which increased by 3.2 percent. The Insurance sector moved up by 3.1 percent and was followed by the Services sector, which appreciated by 1.7 percent. The lowest positive performer was the Industrial sector with a 1.2 percent increase in its number of points. Conversely, the worst performer on the market was the Electricity sector with a 3.5 percent decline, followed by the Agricultural sector, which depreciated by 1.0 percent, whilst the Telecommunications sector went down by 0.3 percent.
More than half of the stocks in the BMG Index saw their prices increase. The best performer was SABB Takaful, whose share price advanced by 10 percent to SR110, and the worst was Kingdom Holding Company, with 4.4 percent drop in its share price to SR11. The leading shares, Al-Rajhi Bank and Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), both rose by 3.4 percent and 1.4 percent to SR107.25 and SR166 per share, respectively, pushing the BMG Saudi Index to higher levels.
