YANBU — A 36-year-old Bangladeshi national reportedly committed suicide by tying himself to his bed and starting a fire near a gas cylinder in his apartment.
According to Yanbu police, Civil Defense responded to a call regarding a fire. A driver who worked at the same company with the man made the emergency call. The body was discovered after the fire was extinguished; it was taken to Yanbu General Hospital.
Col. Muhsin Al-Ridadi, Madinah Region police spokesman, said that there were signs of foul play. Maj. Khaled Al-Bugami, head of investigations for the local Al-Badran police, said that the Bangladeshi man had been working as a computer programmer in a private company for about 10 years.
“He just came from a vacation which he spent in his home country. After his arrival he suffered from depression,” Al-Bugami said. The man reportedly was mired in financial problems.
