RIYADH, 3 March 2008 — A musical performance at the German Embassy today will mark the beginning of German Cultural Week, which is being organized for the first time in Saudi Arabia following the ratification of a cultural agreement between the two countries recently.
World-renowned German Pianist Pavlos Hatzopoulos, who has been to Riyadh for the occasion, will perform in front of his first Saudi audience.
Addressing a press conference at his residence yesterday, German Ambassador Juergen Krieghoff said that “several cultural programs have been lined up as part of the three-month German Cultural Festival that will end in May. Among special programs shown and featured will be a German book show, visit of the German Writers League, a Bavarian dance show, a photography exhibition and a few lectures on art and architecture,” said the envoy.
Germany will also participate in the upcoming Riyadh Book Fair in which hundreds of German titles will be displayed in Arabic, English and German languages.
