BHOPAL, 6 April 2008 — India’s giant pubic sector undertaking Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal unit, has achieved a new benchmark in its annual turnover and profit before tax this year. Addressing a press conference here on Friday on the company’s performance Executive Director R.K. Singh said BHEL Bhopal unit has registered highest turnover of 28.08 billion rupees (about $704.46 million) in the financial year 2007-08. The turnover in the last financial year 2006-07 was 22.86 billion rupees (about $530.8 million). Singh informed that profit before tax this fiscal year also touched a new high of 5.04 billion rupees (about $126.44 million).
