MANAMA, 20 April 2008 — The Labor Fund (LF) and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) held an induction ceremony for 50 Bahraini business managers and owners of SMEs who have joined the BIBF’s Leadership Skills Program.
Candidates, who were handpicked from 72 applicants, include 10 Bahraini women. The 12-month part-time “International Diploma in Management Program” is being offered in association with the UK’s Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and offers a program tailor-made to nurture participants’ leadership and management skills. It also includes a host of valuable incentives, such as access to a student resource center; an “Ask a Researcher” facility in which experienced researchers assist with studies, make e-mail enquiries; and a year-long sponsored membership with CMI.
Dr. Ahmed Abdul Ghani Al-Shaikh, Labor Fund’s vice president for human capital development, said, “We are excited to be partnering the BIBF in this landmark leadership development program, spearheaded by the LF’s Human Capital Development initiatives. This program will help Bahraini business owners and senior managers to strengthen their experience and management expertise.”
The initiative comes in response to the results of an LF survey that showed a significant skills gap among Bahraini business owners and senior managers in the areas of modern management and leadership training. The three-year project aims to train 200 Bahraini business owners and managers.
