JEDDAH: Al-Ahli football team buckle down to work after a vacation as they resume training tomorrow in preparation for the next season.

The players are to report back to the club with a new club president and management in place. New Ahli recruits from local clubs like Al-Ansar of Madinah and Hera of Makkah are to undergo their first training along with the Algerian, defender Adel bin Meza, who was signed by Ahli club for the forthcoming season. The fitness coach will focus in the first stage of bringing the players up to the fitness level after the 40 days long vacation.

Abdul Aziz Al-Angari, new Ahli club president, worked for the recruitment of good players to strengthen the weak points in the Ahli lines. Al-Angari said under his administration he plans to inject new blood to help the team in the long haul. He told Arab News that his administration will not hesitate to sign any player that will benefit the team if he is fit.

The Ahli club management abandoned plans for a training camp abroad to prepare the team like they did last year. Instead, they will hold training camp inside the Kingdom and under the supervision of the new coaching staff.

Ahli are looking forward to make up for the big failure in their last year’s performance.

The Ahli club president said that a new marketing deal signed with STC helped the team financially to pay pending salaries, revitalize the club and sign up new players.
