DUBAI: The Dubai Public Prosecution has charged a father with premeditated murder for killing a man who impregnated his 16-year-old daughter. The father killed the man, who was his cousin's son, after he refused to marry his daughter.
He then buried his body in a construction site and tried to flee the country. However police nabbed him on the day that he was traveling to Jordan, his home country.
The man's daughter, who claimed that she had been raped, gave birth to a baby girl on Monday morning at a government hospital in Dubai. Both the girl, now 17, and her baby were in good health.
Recounting the details of the case from her daughter's hospital bed, the mother said that what happened to her family is a tragedy.
"My husband is in jail, my daughter's future is ruined and all because we tried to help a relative," she lamented.
According to the mother, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the deceased had come to work for her husband around 4 years ago.
"My husband gave him a job in his construction company and treated him like a son. However, he was a greedy man and asked for our daughter's hand in marriage. We refused his suit because our daughter was still young," she said. The mother added that later on her husband fired the young man because of his bad conduct.
"We did not that he was in touch with our daughter and was secretly threatening her. He forced her to meet him in his car by claiming that he had documents that would send her father to prison. When my daughter went with him, he raped her and threaten that he would expose her father is she told anybody," she said.
The girl's mother only realized that something was wrong when her daughter started missing her periods.
"We thought that is was because of the stress of her high school exams. She started gaining weight and started developing a bit of a tummy. I did not think in my worst nightmares that she was pregnant. When we took her to the doctor we were shocked to hear that she was five months pregnant. And all this time my poor daughter thought that she was getting fat."
According to the mother, the husband confronted the boy who denied that he had raped the daughter and started slandering her character. However, to save the daughter's reputation the father asked the deceased to marry her.
"He then started making demands and asked for more money and was abusing my husband," said the mother. On the 25th of May the father and the deceased met at a construction site where apparently a quarrel happened between them, said a source from Dubai Prosecution. The father then allegedly killed his relative and buried his body in hole in the construction site and covered it with concrete. Two other relatives have been arrested and charged with abetting a murder.
The deceased's family contacted the police and filed a missing person report after trying to call him with no answer. An SMS sent from the deceased's phone informing his parent's that he was traveling out of town was the only contact they had from him. The police then went through the accused mobile phone and found the same SMS in his outgoing mailbox. He had used the deceased's SIM card to send the text message to the family.
