DUBAI: Two men who killed a businessman and tried to disguise the crime as a hit-and-run accident have been arrested by Dubai Police. The suspects also stole the man’s car and a huge amount of cash that he had just withdrawn from a bank.

Col. Khalil Al-Mansoori, director of the Criminal Intelligence Department, said the pair monitored their victim’s activity on the day of the crime. “When the victim, an Asian businessman, went to a bank in the Al-Aweer area, the duo waited for him,” he said. When the man got into his car after coming out of the bank, the men rammed his car from the rear. As he got out to check the damage, the men ran him over. One of them got into the victim’s car and drove away, leaving the man to die on the road.

When the body was found, police thought it was a hit-and-run accident. Subsequent investigations, however, revealed that the man had just withdrawn AED300,000 and that his car was missing.

Police tracked down the two men through a stolen Toyota Prado, which they had used in the crime.
