JEDDAH: Saudi fashion designer Zaki Bin Aboud wants to promote better relations between Americans and Arabs through the use of fashion under the banner “Yes for Peace and No to Violence,” her major creative couture fashion show for 2008 that is scheduled to take place in the US.
The Saudi fashion designer announced yesterday during a meeting with officials from the US Consulate.
“It is going to be a very important step in my career to hold such an exhibition in the United States to introduce my fashion at the international level,” said Zaki. She said her work is not necessarily political, but it does grow out of the frustration she feels being a Saudi woman. She also said she hopes to use fashion not only to showcase her work but also to bring Arabs and Americans together in a different way.
