ABHA: Three children from the family of a schoolteacher who drowned in flashfloods following heavy rains last week drowned on Friday after falling in a water hole outside their village in Asir province.
Abdul Ilah, 13, Abdul Rahman, 12, and Hussein, 11, had gone to play on the bank of a three-meter deep pool that was formed by rainwater on the western part of their village when the accident happened.
A local search party, which had been sent out after the boys failed to return home in the village of Abu Salae, found the boys’ bodies, said relative Makki Moukli.
Makki complained about the local Civil Defense’s lukewarm attitude in finding the missing, adding that local people had to form groups to look for the boys.
The boys’ father is a cousin of Adil Moukli, who died on Monday after a car he was traveling in with three other teachers was carried away in floodwaters. His lifeless body was found floating in Bish Dam, which is located some 30 km away from the accident spot in Wadi Al-Raith between the provinces of Jizan and Asir.
Hassan Hekami, one of the teachers, was also killed in the accident, while their colleagues Yahya Moukli, and Abdullah Mukshie escaped with injuries.
Several cases of drowning and accidents have been reported recently across the Kingdom, which has seen heavy downpour over the past week.
