DAMMAM: A disabled man who cannot drive a normal car has been charged with joyriding and injuring two young men at a crowded market place in Al-Ahsa. Abhorred at the thought of driving irresponsibly, the man said he uses a car that is especially designed for the handicapped and that cannot be used for joyriding. The court is to consider the man’s argument and ascertain how he was summoned for a crime he could possibly not have committed, Al-Yaum newspaper reported.
O man, this ain’t good omen for new bride!
DAMMAM: A bride, while being photographed with her friends at a wedding hall in Al-Ahsa, was left embarrassed and injured when the canopy over her bridal couch crashed on top of her, spoiling her gear. The girl’s relatives were not as much upset by the disturbance it caused as they were by the forebodings portended by the break and the bleeding bride at the start of her married life. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital only after prayers were offered to ward off evil spirits and protect against the evil eye. The party continued once the girl returned, Al-Madinah newspaper reported.
Man almost a loser in ‘man versus machine’
QUNFUDA: A farm worker seeking to cut a tree obstructing the growth of some new plants ended up nearly sawing off his left foot. As the tree was large, the worker put a foot on the tree to bend it down and began slicing it with his electric saw. The powerful machine was so fast that it cut the tree within no time and began sawing away at his foot. The man was, however, able to switch off the machine before it could severe off his entire foot. The man is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital, Al-Madinah newspaper reported.
