MADINAH: Four Saudis died in a horrific car crash on Al-Hijra Road, some 85 kilometers away from Madinah. While one died on the spot, the three others died soon after the Civil Defense officials had cut through the wreck to bring them out.
A good Samaritan intimated the Civil Defense officials in Madinah of the accident. Teams from the Civil Defense and the Saudi Red Crescent went to the accident site, where they found the car, a Caprice, rolled and wrecked. One of the Saudis was thrown out by the force of the accident, while the remaining were stuck in the car. The person ejected from the car died on impact.
The Civil Defense, using the jaw of life tool, cut through the metal to free the other three passengers. Two of the passengers were pronounced dead soon after the officials managed to free them while the third was still alive and was transferred him to the Al-Yatama General Hospital, some 80 kilometers away to the south of Madinah.
But he too was later pronounced dead at the hospital after failing to respond to treatment. The accident is now being investigated by the Highway Patrol.
