TAIF: Thieves generally gravitate toward goods they want to pilfer, but in a mosque in Taif they gravitated toward good. They made good their flight after stealing all the copies of the Holy Qur’an in the mosque at the Qarawi residential quarters to the astonishment of the faithful who found the mosque bereft of the Holy Book of all sizes. The stands, microphones, the sound system and other valuables were left untouched, Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday, while stating the theft was uncovered when residents came to the mosque to pray. “We were astonished to discover that all the copies of the Holy Book, large and small, have disappeared from the mosque,” said Suraj Jamaan, a resident. He added that all the other valuables in the mosque were untouched. An anonymous do-gooder supplied the mosque with new copies of the Qur’an. What’s ironic is that the Kingdom provides millions of copies of the Holy Book in various languages free.
