RIYADH: The concluding function of the seventh summer festival for orphans organized by the charity organization Insan will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Riyadh today.

Prince Faisal bin Salman, chairman of Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG), who is also the chairman of the executive committee of the Saudi Society for the Care of Orphans (Insan), is scheduled to attend the function.

Saleh Al-Yusuf, director general of the society, said the event aimed at shedding more light on the society’s special summer activities. “The seventh festival carrying the theme ‘Your Summer With Insan Is Wonderful’ was designed to give the orphans an opportunity to spend the summer vacation in an educative, entertaining and religious atmosphere,” Al-Yusuf said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency yesterday.

“This year’s summer events included 10 trips to several urban centers and heritage locations in Abha, Jeddah, Taif, Eastern Province and Madaen Saleh. They also included 26 family meetings, and100 visits to various landmark locations in Riyadh,” Yusuf added.

Special competitions were organized in Qur’an and Hadith memorization, short story writing, painting, calligraphy, football and volleyball games and swimming, he said. The summer programs also included taking 450 orphans and widows to Makkah for the lesser pilgrimage of Umrah. The charity body also organized several classes in computer training, English language, stitching and first aid, he said.
