JEDDAH: Ittihad secured a hard-earned win over Najran in the round seven of the Saudi Professional League yesterday winning 3-2 at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal stadium in Jeddah.
Al-Ittihad captain Muhammad Nur scored the fastest goal of the league when he found the net in the opening minute of the match. Emad Miteb secured Ittihad’s second goal just before the breather. Ittihad defender Red Tukar made the issue safe for his team scoring from the spot in the 62nd minute.
Abdullah Haidar pulled one back for Najran in the 65th minute making a neat placement from inside the penalty area.
Welson Antonio narrowed the margin finding the net eight minutes before time. Najran tried to make a fight of it when they went all-out for the equalizer but were unable to break through the rival defense.
Ittihad continued to remain at the top of the table with 22 points while Najran are in the ninth position with only seven points.
In the other matches, Shabab of Riyadh defeated hosts Al-Watani of Tabuk 2-0 which enabled them to jump to the fourth position with 12 points while Al-Watani remained last with only one point.
In Buraidah, Al-Raid continued to put up a good show by defeating Abha 3-1 while Abha’s performance this season left much to be desired.
Al-Raid with nine points are eight on the table while Abha are in the 11th with only three points.
