DUBAI: The developer of Dubai Mall said yesterday that the launch of the mall, one of the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destinations, had been postponed until next week.

Officials said that the mall will open on Nov. 4.

This is the second time that the mall’s opening has been delayed this year. Dubai Mall was scheduled to open on Aug. 28. But that opening was being pushed back due to delays in the construction of infrastructure facilities such as parking lot.

Emaar said that the Dubai Mall was prepared to open as planned today, but the additional time “will ensure that the final touches are in place to allow our visitors to fully appreciate and enjoy the Dubai Mall experience.”

The mall is part of a complex surrounding the incomplete Burj Dubai, already the world’s tallest building.

“The Dubai Mall is a world-class project and a significant initiative in line with the growth strategy for Dubai as outlined in the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015. The added time will enable stronger infrastructure support for visitors and deliver the best possible customer experience,” it added in statement.

The mall includes a skating rink, aquarium and space for 1,200 stores spread across more than 12 million square feet.

Key opening day attractions include Dubai Aquarium & Discovery Center, a world-class attraction revealing the marvels of the underwater world, the Olympic-size Dubai Ice Rink (with capacity for up to 1,000 skaters and seating for 350 spectators) and the world’s largest indoor Gold Souk.”

The Dubai Mall will also feature the Fashion Avenue, a spectacular global showcase of prestigious fashion labels from around the world.
