DAMMAM: EPCA hosted a dinner function on Friday in a local hotel in honor of Khaled A. Almaeena, Arab News editor in chief, patron in chief of EPCA and an ardent cricket fan.
EPCA’s executive committee led by President Sikander Farooqui and the audience accorded Almaeena, chief guest on the occasion, a warm welcome.
In his speech Farooqui thanked Almaeena for accepting the invitation despite his busy schedule. He briefed the chief guest and audience about the performance and progress of the original EPCA which has been working tirelessly for the last 28 years. Farooqui also mentioned the challenges EPCA was facing due to external interference.
Fayyaz Aslam Shaikh, founder of EPCA, in his speech welcomed Almaeena and appreciated the EPCA executive committee’s efforts that ensured the success of the last cricket season. He presented a cash donation of SR10,000 which will be utilized to defray expenses for the forthcoming London tour. Shaikh also presented a plaque of thanks and appreciation to Almaeena.
For his part, Almaeena acknowledged the problems and difficulties faced by EPCA. He promised to help root out the obstacles.
Underlining his full support to the original EPCA, Almaeena said: “I am have been involved in EPCA since 1983 and I have full support for EPCA.” He advised all the cricket stake holders in the Eastern Province to avoid divisive politics and come together in the interest of the game without any conditions.
Mohammad Ansary, general manager of Almarkb International and an EPCA patron as well, expressed gratitude to Almaeena and Arab News for supporting the game and EPCA.
Omar A. Al Shuhail, BD executive, assured support to EPCA and appreciated the EPCA efforts in promoting the game of cricket.
