JEDDAH: Al Nasr scored a convincing 3-1 win over Al-Hazem to secure three points and moved to the second position with 17 points of the Saudi Professional League yesterday.
Nasr did not disappoint their supporters who came to see them play at the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium in Riyadh in the round seven encounter of the league. Yesterday’s win enabled them to push Hilal to the third spot on the table.
Nasr shot into an early eighth minute lead through Rayan Belal.
Al-Hazem did not lose heart and pressurized the rival defense and were rewarded with the equalizer in the 25th minute through Fuad Al-Mutairi.
It was during this period that Al-Hazem showed spirit and looked close to threatening Nasr’s domination.
Nasr stepped up their performance after the change of ends which made their intentions clear — of securing three points.
Any other result would give an advantage to the other teams in the group.
Nasr’s task was made easier in the 64th minute when Al-Hazem defender Kajfano scored into his own goal to help Nasr take the lead 2-1.
Nasr’s star striker Rayan Belal made the issue safe for his team when he found the net in the 82nd taking advantage of sloppy defending by Al-Hazem.
Al-Hazem are 10th with five points only.
