JEDDAH: The president of the Saudi Youth Welfare approved the names of the Saudi national team players that will take part in the 2010 World Cup soccer tournament qualifiers, Asian zone.
The listed players will join the training camp next Wednesday (Nov. 5) in preparation for their game against South Korea which will be held on Nov. 21.
Missing from the list are, Al-Nasr striker Saad Al-Harthi and Muhammad Al-Duaie.
Another surprise exclusion was Muhammad Nur, who showed fine form for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Professional League. Ittihad currently top the league.
Saudi Arabia will play friendly matches against Thailand and Bahrain as part of their preparations for the qualifiers. The match against Thailand will be on Saturday (Nov. 8) and against Bahrain on Nov. 12. Both matches will be held in Riyadh.
The 27 players are:
Goalkeepers: Waleed Abdullah, Kameel Al-Wabari, Mansour Al-Najaie, Yaser Al-Musaileem. Defenders: Reda Tukar, Osama Hawsawi, Majed Al-Marshadi, Waleed AbdRabu, Osama Al-Muwallad, Kamil Al-Mur, Hussein Abdul Ghani. Midfielders: Abdullah Shuhail, Abdullah Al-Dossari, Khaled Aziz, Saud Kariri, Ahmad Utaif, Tayseer Al-Jasim, Abdu Utaif, Ahmad Al-Fareedi, Muhammad Al-Shalhoub, Abdul Rahman Al-Kahtani. Forwards: Yaser Al-Qahtani, Malek Muz, Naif Hazazi, Faisal Al-Sultan, Hasan Al-Raheb and Sultan Al-Nimri.
