MAKKAH: The Kingdom has been handed two awards at a short-film competition about crime organized by the Secretariat General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
The awards — which were announced at the 32nd Convention of Arab Commanders of Police and Security Forces held recently in Beirut — were given to the Ministry of Interior’s Public Security Department. The winning entries include a short film about theft, entitled “Carefulness May Mitigate Danger,” and another film about online crime, entitled “Sure You Have Not Been Robbed.”
Director of Public Security Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani received the award from Muhammad bin Ali Kouman, secretary-general of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.
“These awards are a manifestation of the continued support and guidance that is being provided by Minister of Interior Prince Naif, his deputy and his assistant for security affairs to prevent crime by raising awareness,” Gen. Al-Qahtani said.
Col. Muhammad Al-Maroul, director of public relations, said the Ministry of Interior regularly enters short documentaries into the annual contest. The department has produced two documentaries about home safety and online crime. “We have exerted tremendous efforts in the production of these two films,” Al-Maroul said.
