JEDDAH: Abha drew with Al-Watani 2-2 of Tabuk in a lone seventh round match yesterday in the Saudi Professional League in Abha.
Meantime, today’s quadruple bill will include the two remaining seventh round matches and one match each from round eight and round 11.
In a high-profile match at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here, Al-Ahli plays host to Al-Ittifaq. Denied the three points in its round six match when it tied Wehda 0-0, Ahli is expected to go all out for victory although the task will not be easy.
Though in seventh position with nine points from seven matches Ahli has turned off many of its fans as they noted the club lost nine points in two losses and three draws.
Ittifaq, on the other hand, is in a better position than Ahli with 11 points, good for fifth place in the team standings.
Ittifaq secured the game’s three points against Najran in round six of the league.
Victory for Ittifaq coupled by either a draw or a loss for Al-Shabab in its match against Al-Hazem would move the team up to the fourth position.
In Riyadh, Al-Hilal gets its chance to jump to second place with a win against Al-Wehda in a vital round seven clash.
Hilal is currently third with 16 points and one match in hand. A win against Wehda means 19 points and the second position if Al-Nasr lose against Al-Najran.
The match is equally important for Wehda because any result other than victory means that it will drop down the standings. Wehda is in sixth position with 11 points.
Najran hosts the second-ranked Nasr with 17 points.
Nasr is one match ahead of Hilal having played eight matches so far.
The last match of the day is between Al-Shabab and Al-Hazem. Shabab is fourth with 12 points and Al-Hazem 10th with five points.
