DAMMAM: An expatriate worker was killed in an accident at an amusement park on Dammam’s Corniche on Monday.

The 33-year-old Indian worker died after falling on the track of a toy train while helping children to get on the ride, said Col. Yousuf Al-Qahtani, spokesman for the Eastern Province police.

“The man died immediately after being run over. Investigations are being conducted on the circumstances that led to the accident,” he added.

“The train was slow when it struck the worker. None of the children riding on the train were injured,” said Maj. Gen. Mansour Al-Dousary, Civil Defense spokesman in the region.

According to eyewitnesses, the man was standing very close to the train when it began moving. He then fell and was caught by rods under the coach and was dragged along for some time.

The man’s body is currently kept at the morgue of Dammam Central Hospital.
