JEDDAH: The stage is set for the quarterfinals after the final matches in groups C and D yesterday in the AFC Youth Championship in Dammam.
China and North Korea qualified from Group C and Uzbekistan and Australia from Group D.
In the first match, North Korea tied China 0-0 to go through to the next round of the competition while Tajikistan was knocked out.
China is first of the group with seven points, North Korea second with five points and Tajikistan third with four points despite crushing Lebanon 5-1 in the other match of the group.
In Group D matches, Uzbekistan defeated Thailand 1-0 and Australia found no difficulty in defeating Jordan 2-1 as the winners both qualified for the round of eight.
Uzbekistan and Australia are equal on seven points and they both have goal difference of 1. Thailand finished third in the group matches with three points and last is Jordan with no point.
In the quarterfinals, China will face Australia while Uzbekistan is to play against North Korea.
