RIYADH: Nail Bedair displayed his driving skills and dominated the first day of the Chevrolet Speed Star Challenge on the first day of the third and final round at Al Reem Circuit in Riyadh on Wednesday.

Nail, who has been making waves in the national motorsport racing scene, won the 1st day of the rear-wheel car challenge, which continued yesterday (Thursday).

“I was really hoping that I would be able to stay green over the weekend. I have to thank ace rally driver Abdullah Bakhashab, the organizer of the event. I also have to thank Chevrolet Motorsport team for sponsoring this event, as without their assistance I couldn’t have gone racing.” Nail said.

In the Chevrolet Speed Star Championship, Bandar Al-Sulami finished second. “I really wanted to win the championship as well, and came very close,” said Al-Sulami. “I knew it was going to be extremely difficult. Finishing second behind Nail Bedair was really a testament to the hard work this round and I would like to congratulate him on his victory on the 1st day.”

In a night full of enthusiasm and spirit of challenge, Nail Bedair driving his Lumina SS car clocked the best time of 00:56.000 on the 1st day. Bandar Al-Sulami came second clocking 00:57.425 driving his red standard 8 cylinder Lumina SS. Ahmad Al-Kowaiter managed to be 3rd on his standard 6 cylinder Lumina SS clocking 00:58.105. The event drew a large number of car racing enthusiasts Kingdomwide who pitted skills in a nonstop endurance battle as each tried to score the maximum under the new awarding system. Held for two days, the races were attended by enthusiastic spectators including women and children who enjoyed the high-speed action by all drivers. The race was very interesting, especially among those who used their modified cars.
