RIYADH: Step aside SABB Takaful, ANB-SAMA became the winningest outfit with five Team of the Week victories under its belt as it blasted PNB Unified during the 18th session in the Interbank Bowling League 2008 Conference at the InterCon Bowling Center here.

Two weeks after Takaful tied ANB-SAMA for the most number of team awards at four, Teody Zulaybar’s squad went one up by compiling the top tallies of 420 points and 3,785 pinfalls against the hapless PNB which could only come up with 60 points and 3,472 pinfalls.

The smoking display by ANB-SAMA produced the third-highest output in the tournament in a tie with SABB Amanah EasyBuy and enabled the team to leapfrog three teams to second place in the team standings.

Even with the advantage of playing the bye team BSF, the league leader, still could not eclipse the ANB-SAMA show although it managed to take half of the honors up for grabs when lefty Jun Bantug claimed his second Bowler of the Week award after shooting the high series of 830 on lines of 176, 206, 225 and 223. BSF finished the night as second best on 340 points and 3,704 pinfalls.

Bank Albilad posted a decisive 210-50 victory over Saudi Hollandi Capital-SHC on total pinfalls of 3,585-3,491, SABB Amanah EasyBuy blanked SABB Visa/MasterCard 200-0 (3,273-2,972) and the up and down SAIB was up and again, beating Takaful 180-80 (3,575-3,391) in the other matches in the five-man team league event sponsored by the participating banks in cooperation with their respective team captains. On a night when ANB-SAMA could not seem to do anything wrong it swept the win points and bonus points for scores of 900 to 949 with games of 930, 962, 937 and 956. At the helm of the five-man ANB-SAMA rotation was Bernie Torres with 811 pinfalls. Jhun Macarandan missed the 800-series by 10 pins at 790, while Deo Santiago added 758, Clem Guelas 733 and Zulaybar 693. SAIB kept the faith as well in a single set of five players, led by the duo of Fred Cadavero and Rey Dela with 758 and 755. Alfredo Villarosa tallied 718, team captain Dong Calub had 712 and Edwin Fontiveros added 632.

Bank Albilad thrived using a seven-man combination with skipper Edwin Nuñez leading the way at 791 followed by Fahad Al-Heza 744, Rene Tanglao 742, Arnel Bernabe 520, Ronald Cruz 326, Roy Rosario 309 and Roland Garcia 153.

The leading scorers at Amanah EasyBuy were Jun Jabaonero with 721, Ruel Barayoga with 696 and Eric Millanar with 671.
