JIZAN: The principal of a school in the southern town of Al-Aridah was suspended from work for beating a teacher after school hours in front of other teachers and students. The suspension will remain in force until an inquiry into what caused the fisticuffs is completed.
According to school sources that preferred not to be named, the principal had grudges against the teacher because he complained to education authorities in the region about mistreatment. They said the grudge snowballed after a special committee was sent to the school to investigate.
This exasperated the principal who waited until the end of the school day, took a leather whip and started lashing the teacher just when he was about to enter into his car.
The teacher reported the matter both to the police and to the local education authorities who ordered the suspension of the principal from work until the end of investigations.
According to the teachers, this was not the first time this school head beat a teacher in his school. He had done it before and was transferred to this school as punishment. The victim said he would take the case to court because he was beaten and humiliated in front of his students and colleagues.
